Flight to Honor Polk County along with Cornerstone Hospice are pleased to announce the first Virtual Flight to Honor.

The Virtual Flight to Honor is an event to honor our Veterans that can’t participate in a “Live” Flight to Honor to Washington DC to view the Monuments and Memorials dedicated to them and the Service Men and Women that served alongside them defending our freedom.

Cornerstone Hospice became involved in this Mission to Honor our Veterans as we have met and cared for some amazing Veterans over the years that were not able to make the trip to Washington DC to be honored.

Looking for a way to Honor Veterans unable to make the day trip on the Flight to Honor, the Virtual Flight to Honor plan began.

Cornerstone Hospice, Volunteer Specialist Pat Gruber working with Gary Clark, Air Force Coronel (ret.) of the Polk County Veterans Council and volunteers that plan the Flight to Honor were able to find community partners that were excited to partner with us to present The First Virtual Flight to Honor.  The American Legion Post 8 in Winter Haven welcomed us to hold the event in their building even agreeing to provide a meal for our Veterans and Escorts.  We have several groups and individuals in Polk County that want to help make this a memorable day for our Honored Veterans.

We would ask that anyone in the community that would like to help please write letters to the Veterans.  We will hold a mail call during our Virtual Flight to Honor and would like to see a great number of Thank-You letters to fill the bags.

If you are an eligible Veteran or know of one that would like to attend our Virtual Flight to Honor you can find an application at Polkveteranscouncil.com  or you can call Pat @863-291-5567

There is no cost for Veterans to attend.

We will give priority to Veterans with a life limiting illness, World War II Veterans, Korean War Veterans, and Vietnam Veterans.

Look for more information coming soon about the next Flight to Honor flight.
